Oil Fog Generators in World War Two, USS St. Louis

This came up in a discussion recently, as to what ships carried smoke generators. I thought I'd post these photos I came across in textual records last year. Cruisers could generate smoke and used "oil fog" smoke generators mounted near the stern. The dark smoke in the top photo is from the funnels and the white smoke (fog) is from the generator mounted just forward of the aircraft catapults:
